We are delighted to announce that Department of Law at Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Zagreb is organizing 4th International Conference on European Company Law and Corporate Governance, which will be held in Zagreb in November 2020.
The Conference aims to gather leading European researches and experts in the field of company law and corporate governance, as well as students and young scholars, thus making Zagreb in November 2020, the central stage for those who are facing the company law and corporate governance issues on everyday basis.
The Conference will focus on the current issues from the field and will provide the opportunity to keep the pace with the latest developments in the field of European company law and corporate governance for its participants.

Idea & Mission
The Conference aims to promote the importance of the European company law and corporate governance and its significance for the proper functioning of the internal market, especially the freedom of establishment.
The Conference tends to assemble the affirmed scientists and practitioners from the fields of company law, corporate governance, accounting and auditing in order to stimulate the multidimensional and interdisciplinary deliberation. The Conference also looks at the future. It is also intended for the students of economic and legal study programs, who are about to face the internal market and shape it in the future. The representatives of civil associations, public sector, professionals, scholars, researches and academic community are all welcomed as potential beneficiaries of the Conference. |

The Background
4th International Conference on European Company Law and Corporate Governance presents a continuation of the tradition established by the three previous conferences on European company law and corporate governance that were held in Zagreb in 2011, 2013 and 2018. Having in mind the good reception of the past Conferences and, what is more important, the recent developments in the field of European company law and corporate governance, the organizers agreed to continue the Conference series and to organize the 4th Conference.
General Information
The Conference is semi-open type. Beside invited key note speakers who are affirmed experts in the field of European company law and corporate governance, everyone interested is welcomed to submit a contribution. The upcoming Conference will focus, but not exclusively, to the following topics:
- Digitalization, e-communication and modern technologies in the company’s activities
- Cross-border operations and company law
- Free movement of capital
- Shareholder vs. stakeholder approach
- Corporate financing and auditing
- Corporate governance
- Financial and corporate sustainability of the company
- ESG factors
Remote participation & discussion, registration & fees
Organizing committee decided to manage the complete Conference online, taking into account possible travelling restrictions, health concerns and general uncertainty caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, participants will be required to provide adequate IT equipment (personal computer, web cam, microphone, speakers, and internet connection) which will enable them to participate remotely. Information on the platform for remote participation and access instructions will be provided in November to the registered participants.
